Happenings: Inferno, Alexander McQueen

Happenings: Inferno, Alexander McQueen

In celebration of the launch of ‘Inferno’ by Kent Baker, a book showcasing Alexander McQueen’s 1996 spectacle ‘Dante,’ Foyles Gallery is presenting of the raw, never before seen images of one of his most imaginative fashion shows from the nineties.

Iconic British fashion designer Alexander McQueen was a recent Central St Martin’s graduate when he showcased ‘Dante’ at Nicholas Hawksmoor’s architectural masterpiece Christchurch in Spitalfields. Photographer Kent Baker, a member of McQueen’s intimate circle of friends, was in a unique position to capture a singular moment: the emergence of a new legend in fashion.

The images are shot entirely on film and have an aspect of reportage photography, yet perfectly capture an unforgettable moment in British Fashion Photography.

The exhibition will run until Monday 11th May 2015. To find out more information and to buy the book itself, visit the Foyles website.
